The new home for Standard Distributing Co., Inc is a 200,000 square foot wholesale distribution center located in New Castle County. EDiS Company installed a bi-level conveyor system for the packaging and shipping of all wine and spirit products. The remaining 20,000 square footage was made into high-end office space. The building is primarily constructed of tilt-concrete panels with the addition of brick veneer at the office area. The entire warehouse is temperature controlled with approximately 22,000 square feet as a draft cooler built from insulated panels and kept at 34°F. The overhead doors between the cooler, condition space, loading dock, and drive-thru are equipped with high speed doors with floor sensors and manually operated insulated doors for off-hours. The thermal break details at the transitions between conditioned and unconditioned spaces were crucial to minimizing condensation. The loading dock area includes twelve docks each equipped with dock levelers, dock covers, bumpers, and trailer hooks. All areas that were accessible to forklift traffic included concrete bollards, concrete “goal posts,” and concrete curbs at the insulated panel walls to minimize the potential for damage by the forklifts. The floors were treated with a concrete hardener, The Ashford Formula, to provide a hard and clean surface for the forklift traffic.
