EDiS Company was engaged to provide design-build services for a 100,500 square foot dry bulk storage facility for Port Contractors. EDiS’ scope included all consulting services from geotechnical evaluations and civil site design to railroad design and building design services. The 150′ x 670′ building is supported on a deep foundation consisting of over 200 pipe piles. The greatest challenge associated with this project was the aggressive schedule, as the project duration was scheduled to be less than six months. EDiS had to obtain land use approval, complete all design documents, bid and negotiate trade contracts, and build the facility through the Delaware winter in order to meet the critical milestones. The Certificate of Occupancy was obtained five months after design work commenced. By manufacturing structural systems off-site and coordinating and assembling on-site, EDiS Building Systems (EBS) Solutions was able to secure a quicker ground-up construction schedule using the 150′ x 670′ Butler building.
