EDiS Company provided design-build services to add a 27,500 square foot pre-engineered Butler building to N.K.S. Distributors’ facility in New Castle, DE. Teaming with D&B Thermal Company, a recognized refrigeration specialist, EDiS delivered the controlled environment warehouse (CEW), as well as a 3,500 square foot freezer for keg storage. The CEW is designed to maintain a temperature of about 45-48°F while the keg cooler is a 28-30°F facility. The keg cooler required a 4″ composite wall and roof panel system, while the CEW used standard ribbed wall panel and the MR-24 standing seam roof system with high “R” batt insulation. Both buildings required special design details to maintain temperature and the integrity of the structure that is exposed to constant extreme temperatures.
