The Everett Theatre, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was erected in 1922. In March 2008, the Theatre sustained significant damage after the ceiling collapsed. Immediately after the collapse the Everett contacted EDiS Company who quickly mobilized to remove debris and set up scaffolding so the engineers and design team could assess the damage. Once the project was designed and bid, EDiS was selected as the General Contractor and began work on the 12,500 square foot project. Renovations included structural ceiling reinforcement, fire suppression, new ceilings, lighting, life safety upgrades, and new finishes. The new finishes, including decorative painting, carpeting, wall fabric, moldings, and wood restoration were kept with the original period of the 1920’s.

Since several contractors were hired independently by Everett, including an interior designer, decorative painter, sprinkler company, and seating installation firm, heavy coordination with multiple parties was necessary from the very beginning of the project.
As the project was drawing to a close, it became apparent that the firm Everette directly hired to reinstall the seating could not perform the work. Since Everett’s reopening Gala date was already established, it was critical that the construction be completed on schedule. EDiS quickly contacted one of the contractors to pull the improperly installed seating and replace it in one day. The pricing was less than the original contract and EDiS was able to meet the deadline in time for the Gala.

EDiS was not the only entity who implemented exceptional teamwork during the duration of the project. The community and local officials stepped up to the plate in order to make it possible for the Everett to once again service the community. Middletown earmarked money for the renovations, several foundations gave generous grants, and countless volunteers held bucket brigades and many other small fund raisers in an effort to save the Everett Theatre. The entire Everett staff, who donated countless hours to the project, were all volunteers within the community. In addition, several subcontractors donated both time and materials for items that would not fit into the already tight budget.
