The DuPont Country Club, a mainstay in Delaware’s social and recreational landscape, recently embarked on an ambitious project to enhance its facilities. Known for its rich history and commitment to providing top-notch amenities, the Club decided to expand its offerings to include an Adult Pool and Paddle Courts, along with a seasonal inflatable dome for tennis and pickleball courts. 

This project was not just an expansion; it was a statement of the Club’s dedication to evolving with the times and catering to the diverse needs of its members.

EDiS, with our own century-long legacy in construction excellence, was honored to be at the forefront of this transformative project. The task at hand was multifaceted – constructing a new lap pool with a supporting pool house structure, developing four heated paddle tennis courts, and erecting a large inflatable dome for winter sports.

The resulting project, a seamless blend of luxury and functionality, was designed to provide members with year-round sporting facilities. The paddle courts, a highlight of the project, were equipped with gas-fired heaters and lighting for night matches, ensuring an uninterrupted sporting experience regardless of weather conditions. 

The accompanying warming hut, with its stone veneer and open gas fire hearth, added a touch of elegance and comfort, making it a perfect retreat during winter months.

One of the significant solutions provided by EDiS was the construction of the 20,000 square foot inflatable dome – a first of its kind in the state of Delaware. 

The dome, which covers three existing tennis courts, required meticulous planning and coordination with the Fire Marshal to ensure compliance with safety codes. EDiS’s proactive approach and was crucial in navigating these regulatory items and delivering a safe and compliant structure.

Another challenge was the need for rapid decision-making due to the concurrent design and construction phases. EDiS’s agility and responsiveness were instrumental in incorporating the client’s evolving requirements without compromising on the project timeline or quality.
