Campus Community School Renovations

Construction Management
Public K-12

As a result of increasing enrollment, Campus Community School hired EDiS Company to construct a new high school facility in Dover, Delaware. The existing vacant warehouse building consisted of a structural steel frame and metal roof assembly. The interior of the building was completely demolished and all of the exterior wall assembly was removed exposing only the structural steel frame. Phase I construction consisted of renovating 35,000 square feet of space into new administration areas, classrooms, laboratory areas, and a new library. Phase II construction consisted of additional classroom areas, a full service kitchen, multipurpose room, and cafeteria areas, as well as a regulation high school gymnasium. The interior construction consisted of metal stud and drywall partitions, acoustical ceilings, and vinyl composition tile for flooring. The exterior wall assembly consists of a structural stud assembly with an exterior finish and insulation system at the perimeter. This wall assembly added a great insulation value to the existing building. The mechanical systems consist of air-handling units and energy recovery units located up in the mezzanine space which provides cooling, heating, and required fresh air in the occupied spaces. The challenge of the project was to complete both phases in time for the required school opening. In addition to the demanding schedule our requirements from the State Charter Association had to be met as well.
