Field Technician

Are you fascinated by the blend of technology and construction? At EDiS, we’re searching for a Field Technician to join our AMP (Advanced Modeling Precision) Team, bringing your skills to laser scanning, field point layout, and Building Information Modeling (BIM). You’ll assist in creating precision-driven models and supporting project teams with on-site accuracy and constructability.

Whether you’re capturing the built environment with cutting-edge laser scanners or helping teams turn plans into reality through field point installation, your work will be critical to making our projects accurate and efficient. Your priorities will be:

  1. Laser Scanning and Surveying: Perform on-site laser scanning, create point cloud stitching, provide accurate field point layouts to support project teams, and participate in capturing new laser scanning opportunities.
  2. BIM Support: Assist in BIM, VDC, and CAD technologies, ensuring seamless project execution during the design and construction phases.
  3. Documentation Excellence: Maintain accurate, thorough, and up-to-date project documentation, submitting reports promptly.
  4. Relationship Building: Collaborate with internal teams, clients, contractors, and design teams to smooth workflows and identify future opportunities.
  5. Quality Control: Identify and communicate any quality or safety concerns on projects to uphold EDiS standards.

Your Day to Day Looks Like...

  • Support the AMP team in facilitating construction projects by applying technology solutions during the pre-construction and the design phase.
  • Utilize Revit, Trimble Field Point Layout, and CAD for project modeling and design review.
  • Perform laser scanning and point cloud stitching.
  • Identify growth opportunities for laser scanning services and assist in developing business opportunities.
  • Visit active project sites to conduct laser scanning or point installations, ensuring constructability and accuracy. Depending on size, scale, and complexity of the project, this may include full-time assignment to a project site.
  • Complete project documentation, including reports, logs, and updates, to maintain project integrity and compliance.
  • Pursue continued learning and training!

Your Skills Look Like...

  • BIM Buff: You’re familiar with Building Information Modeling (BIM), MEP Coordination, and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) tools, and love to see a plan come together.
  • Survey This!: You have the ability to understand and provide survey services via field point layout.
  • Laser Focus: You’ve got working knowledge of the software to prepare laser scans.
  • Master Communicator: Whether it’s a client meeting or an email update, your verbal and written communication skills are always on point – and prompt!
  • Problem-Solving Hero: You stay calm under pressure, tackle challenges head-on, and adapt like a pro when plans change. Bonus points for stories where you demonstrated sound judgement and recommendations that Impact profitability or quality.
  • Team Dynamo: Collaboration is your superpower—and customer service is your method. You work well with internal and external teams, bringing positivity and reliability to every project.

Your Experience Looks Like...

  • 5 years of experience as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in laser scanning preferred.
